About us
Work on MyTripScrapbook began in early 2007 by Jim James. Jim had been Chief Technology Officer at Globus (largest escorted tour operator in the world) for 5 fabulous years. Globus cared very, very much about their travelers (as do all tour operators in North America, in my experience) but didn't have a good way for people to share their experiences with their families, coworkers and friends. At least half the fun of extraordinary travel experiences is sharing them with the people you care about.
Build something they can share. The first goal was to construct a Web portal that ordinary travelers can use to share their experiences. Lots of such portals can be found on the Internet but they all require either a PhD in computer science to use effectively or they required you to type a lot of stuff just to get the basic information in.
With no effort. So the second goal was to load all the wonderful information about the tour experiences on behalf of the traveler. When a traveler registers, we build their journal for them using all the infomation we can find including beautiful stock pictures, historical facts, anecdotes about the sights, and interesting notes. Travelers can share this with their buddies (family, coworkers, friends) just by entering their email addresses. That's it.
Or some effort. Unless you want to upload your own personal pictures, add your own words to any day's journal, add special messages to your buddies while on-tour, add new journal pages, and so on. But you don't have to.
And it still looks good. Actually travelers tell us their journals look "drop-dead gorgeous". We designed them to be real scrapbooks - not longwinded novels with hundreds of pictures. If you want to produce a novel, please find one of the hundreds of travel sites that do this very well. We specialize in scrapbooks that your friends can flip through and enjoy in a few minutes.
Did we mention it's free to travelers and their buddies? It is.
Lovingly built by real humans. We are very people-oriented and we care about the scrapbooks that you receive. Each individual tour requires literally hundreds of hours to research and prepare. We are terrifically lucky to have a fine staff of hardworking folks who put it all together, day after long day.
About those humans. Jennifer Gordon is our maven of customer service. She answers emails at all hours and strives to assist with even the most minor of problems.
Our researchers, quality assurance testers, and fact-checkers are Guyla Greenley, Tara Lumley, P. Gharst, Dan Sirls, Christine Ketelsen, Candi James, and Sandie Posthumus.
